Objectives:

  1. Understand the epidemiology and costs to the patient/health care system for undetected posttraumatic stress disorder.
  2. Be able to spot both typical and atypical presentations of posttraumatic stress disorder as it appears in the primary care clinic.
  3. Understand and be able to utilize specific screening and diagnostic questions for rapidly uncovering posttraumatic stress disorder (includes patient videotape).
  4. Be able to utilize specific techniques for sensitively uncovering histories of sexual and physical abuse (includes patient video).
