Uncovering Hidden Suicidal Ideation in a Primary Care Setting

Objectives:
- Be able to describe the risk factors associated with suicide and their relation to predicting suicide.
- Be able to utilize the following validity techniques as they relate to eliciting suicidal ideation: the behavioral incident, gentle assumption, symptom amplification, denial of the specific, and normalization.
- Be able to describe and utilize an innovative interview strategy for eliciting suicidal ideation, the Chronological Assessment of Suicide Events (CASE Approach) as adapted to a busy primary care setting.
